New Award! Dr. Emily Adhikari and Dr. SoRelle receive an R21 from NIAID to establish the best sites to perform molecular testing on newborns to identify congenital syphilis.

New Award! Dr. SoRelle receives his first R01 from NIDDK under the National Institutes of Health to study how glycosylation protects the host from inflammatory bowel disease. Also, we will study how to manipulate glycosylation to protect the host from inflammatory intestinal disease.

New publication Manoj Sah from his dissertation work – “Prevalence and Species Diversity of Non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria in North Texas”, Journal of Infection and Public Health, July 2025.
This study provides a comprehensive analysis of NTM epidemiology and species-level distribution across clinical isolates in North Texas.

New Award! The National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) under the USDA, in partnership with the Peanut Commodity Board is sponsoring a 3 year award to study how IgE sialylation can be a diagnostic test for food allergy.

Dr. SoRelle helps raise $2.3 Million for his molecular diagnostics start up company, Cereus Diagnostics through an NCI Direct to Phase II SBIR award. This will allow the company to create a commercial grade genetic test to rapidly match lung cancer patients with targeted therapy. Along with Dr. Megan Wachsmann at the North Texas VA hospital, Dr. SoRelle will support the clinical validation studies after company scientists create a GMP grade product.
